All of these barns are within walking distance of each other. Some have been reused while others may be domed the large photo at the top is an amazing building it would make a nice loft or business it has an empty lot next to it and a larger garage directly across from it. From what i understand the owner is from out of state.

The Big Brick Barn at the corner of Farmer and Guernsey was owned by Don Ostroski up until recently and I think it still is. I met him in Housing Court. He lives in the second floor apartment above Casey's Tavern on Niagara Street or at least he did several months ago. I have been trying to interest someone in this property. I too do not want to see it demoed. Marsha Huard
I considered purchasing the property next to the barn on Guernsey for $7,500 a year ago, but decided not to because the barn is a hazard to the house. The buildings are about two feet apart and everything from the barn roof falls onto the house roof. In addition, the neighborhood kids have started using the barn as their local clubhouse and it's probably just a matter of time before one of those dimwits blows the place sky high.
Unfortunately, demolition is probably the best case scenario for that barn.
That brick barn is really great and I hope it finds the right person to buy it and rehab it. It has a lot of potential. The other brick barn, shown in the bottom left photo is also great. It is on Dearborn St and butts up against another brick structure that fronts onto Niagara. They would be ideal for somebody who needed a loading dock.
There is another wooden barn on Dearborn with a really cute house for sale for $30,000. The barn has three bays and is set up for a workshop. The address is 354 Dearborn and is listed with Hunt.
To Ryan, all the more reason to have a responsible owner/occupier for the barn. Demolitions are very slow in our area and it would be better for the neighborhood to have someone caring for that structure. There is an amazing reuse of a barn or garage on Grote st. on the corner of Peter. It is fully fenced, (Guernsey barn has an empty lot next to it, could be great yard), ample lighting and looks incredible. Photos of it were posted on Fix Buffalo some time ago.

lori, there's no doubt that a responsible owner would be an asset to that street, but I don't foresee a reuse strategy that would be economically viable at the present time. Maybe if/when property values in that neighborhood rise someone will see some value in the property. Until then it's going to continue to be a hazard.
